Meet Ms. Brenda
I am so happy to be returning to the preschool program at Forest Glen! This is my fourth year of teaching the blended preschool program here in D41 and Forest Glen.
I was with the D54/Schaumburg School District during the 2010-2011 school year where I co-taught a self-contained speech-language classroom until being asked to come to D41. During the 2009-2010 school year, I was with the D131/East Aurora School District in a blended preschool classroom. I really enjoyed working
with both of these two districts as I was working with very diverse populations!
Prior to finishing my masters in education, I worked within the Early Intervention System in Kane and Kendall counties for over ten years. I learned a great deal from the families and staff who I worked with during my years as a service coordinator and manager with the EI system.
I completed my bachelors and first masters degree in 1995 and 1997
respectively from Northern Illinois University in communicative
disorders/rehabilitation counseling for the deaf. In 2006, I completed the Infant Mental Health Certificate Program through Erikson Institute and then finished my masters in education from NIU in 2009.
I have a terrific husband and 3 fantastic children at home. Maggie is 15, Sara is 12, and Adam is 8 years old. Maggie and Sara are both very involved with their travel softball teams. Maggie just finished a successful season as a varsity runner with the Yorkville Cross Country team. She is currently on the freshman basketball and looks forward to playing for her high school softball team this spring. Sara, who is in 6th grade, is currently playing for our town's travel basketball team and looks forward to starting her middle school experience next year! Adam is in 2nd grade and has his red belt in Tae Kwon Do and loves playing soccer. Between having three children at three different schools and a lot of sports, our family is very busy! When I am not at a game/event cheering on my children, I enjoy gardening, reading books, shopping and cooking/baking!
I am looking forward to another great year at D 41 and Forest Glen!
